Vividly aromatic; the bouquet of this pale ale is a complex mix of fruit, flowers and heavy malt. The full head and faintly pumpkin hue are attractive to look at. Heavier tasting than most pale ales, Jaipur packs a robust wallop of alcohol and an enjoyable thick mouthfeel. An estery undercurrent is evident, but high hoppiness dominates the flavor palate. The finish is strongly bitter, almost metallic in taste; reminscient of Rogue's Dead Guy Ale. Jaipur will satisfy the cravings of even rabid hopheads without losing the rest of the crowd. Though generally difficult to find, this and other brews by the California-based Humes Brewing Company are definitely well worth the effort to seek out, and are available in only in distinct wine bottle sized vessels with raised lettering. |
