Even before tasting Maudite there's a lot to appreciate about this brew. The fruity aroma, spiced with a nice hint of alcohol, is as inviting and pleasurable to the nose as the lush appearance of this ale's deep amber-brown color is to the eye. Enchanting and complex-strong alcohol, and rich, unrestrained fruitiness, balanced by just the right bitterness on the back of the tongue-the mouth is awash in flavor while Maudite's satisfyingly hearty texture fills the mouth. Maudite's exotic label with its creepy, surrealistic imagery verges on being just another marketing cry for attention in an already crowded marketplace, but its winning taste proves this is an excellent beer, perhaps Canada's very best. The folks here at BarAmerica would be happy drinking this dark ale long into the night. |
