A brew with a rich nose, full of sweet malt, a dash of spice, hops, and perhaps even a hint of maple. The body is an exotic blend of pumpkin orange and blood colors, though there is a noticeable lack of carbonation. Unfortunately this Octoberfest's taste is not as exciting or fulfilling as its other sensory properties. As its aroma suggests this brew's flavor mainly derives its character from its malt, with only a bare touch of hops to balance its sweetness, this beer's taste. While engaging and distinctive, New Amsterdam Octoberfest is a bit one-sided, and probably not the sort of beer you'd want to have too many of consecutively. |
