Saranac Golden Pilsener

A brew review of the Saranac Golden Pilsener.

F.X. Matt
Utica, New York
Overall Rating 6.7
Look (0-1) 0.7
Aroma (0-2) 1.2
Taste (0-5) 3.4
General Impression (0-2) 1.4

Vivid carbonation, pale golden body and foamy white head make this the perfect picture of a summertime lager. The aroma of this wheat lager is mostly shy, but the scent of wheat is discernible, as are hop and flower accents. As expected, this beer feels very light in the mouth; refreshing and very pleasant. The taste of wheat is pronounced, as are the hops, especially in the finish. An unusual brew, considering most wheat beers are ales, but nonetheless overall a successful effort by Saranac's brewers.
