Watery, anemic straw colored body, covered by a foamy head that rises fast, but falls even faster; buttery, bland malt aroma without much imagination, except for a feeble fruitiness that reveals itself halfway into the brew. Without the traditional garnish of a wedge of lime to supplement it Corona's taste is overwhelmingly limp, with only the barest hint of hop character or malt sweetness. Very bland initially, the taste suffers as it warms. The mouthfeel is unsurprisingly light and lifeless and culminates in a harsh and unpleasantly sour finish. Best served very cold, if at all, though don't expect to be refreshed. From start to finish Corona Extra Lager is just a loser; in the world of lagers only Corona's advertising shines. Add one point to the overall rating for using a wedge of lime. |
