| A black, deep maroon colored stout with a creamy, thin coffee-colored head, and sporting an enticingly sweet aroma. Opening nicely, Young's Oatmeal Stout suggests a fragile balance of mocha, hops and deeply roasted malt that make for an agreeable, dry finish. Unfortunately the body and palate seem to fall apart after sitting too long in the glass, leaving a less enjoyable, but not unpleasant, impression on the tongue. While the promise of a full, fine, pleasing stout is hinted at in the nose and initial tastes, that promise is not entirely fulfilled. | |||||||||||
