A very dark looking brew, brownish amber only under when held up to light, which also reveals healthy carbonation; complex and utterly inviting aroma is strongly suggestive of heavily roasted chocolate malt and coffee. The taste is primarily of roasted malted heavily accented with chocolate, with noticeable hints of honey and caramel; semi-sweet and silky smooth. Agreeable bitterness adds the finishing touch, most evident in the winning aftertaste, completing this well-balanced beer by the Boston Brewing Company. An excellent example of this stout style, deep, dark and thought provoking without being exceedingly full-bodied or alcoholic. This is one stout that doesn't disappoint, worth revisiting again and again. |
